Djokovic boosts No. 1-rank lead
WORLD No. 1 Novak Djokovic extended his lead at the top of the ATP rankings following his three-set victory over No. 2 Roger Federer in the final of the Indian Wells Masters on Sunday.
In the latest rankings, released yesterday, Spaniard Rafael Nadal, Britain’s Andy Murray and Japan’s Kei Nishikori complete the top five with Canadian Milos Raonic in sixth spot. But former Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka of Switzerland slipped one place to eighth while Spaniard David Ferrer climbs one place to seventh.
Also, Serbia’s Jelena Jankovic, the runner-up at Indian Wells, climbed four places to 17th in the latest WTA rankings.
The former world No. 1 was one of the biggest movers despite losing the final to Romanian world No. 3 Simona Halep.
There were no changes in the top 10 as Serena Williams remains No. 1 even after pulling out of the Indian Wells semifinals with injury.
