Racism row hits Chelsea fans again

POLICE have launched an investigation after reports of racist and abusive behavior from Chelsea fans on a train from London to Manchester.

British Transport Police said officers were called to meet the train as it entered Stoke station in central England, and asked four men to leave the train on Sunday night. Four more fans left voluntarily.

The force confirmed it followed “reports of racist and abusive behavior by a number of passengers, said to be football fans”.

It came hours after Premier League giant Chelsea won the League Cup final by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Wembley Stadium in north London.

Having spoken to two witnesses, police say investigations are continuing.

The behavior of Chelsea fans has been in the spotlight after alleged racist incidents last month — one at a Paris metro station, where supporters were filmed blocking a black man from boarding a subway train, and one at London St Pancras Station.

The Paris incident, ahead of the 0-0 Champions League draw with Paris St Germain, sparked widespread condemnation.
