Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho refuses to talk about Pogba

MANCHESTER United manager Jose Mourinho said he did not want to talk about another club’s player when he was asked about the club’s reported world-record bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

“I don’t confirm and I don’t deny,” the Portuguese said at a press conference in Shanghai today. “First of all because I don’t think it’s correct to speak about players from other clubs. He is a Juventus player, not a Manchester United player.

“The only thing I can say is that my board, my directors, did a fantastic job to do 75 percent of the job I asked them to do. We just have 25 percent to do before August 31. So we are in a great position to do what I consider will be a great market for us.”

Mourinho was accompanied by Manchester United defender Luke Shaw. The English Premier League club will play Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in the 2016 International Champions Cup China tomorrow.

Shaw said he enjoyed working with Mourinho.

“It’s a fresh start and we are feeling good... We are going to challenge for every title.”

United players trained at Shanghai Stadium in the presence of local fans despite the scorching 39 degrees Celsius outside. Mourinho also played down the heat factor.

The team will play the second ICC China match against city rival Manchester City in Beijing on Monday. But the match is in doubt due to the torrential rains and heavy flooding in the region.
