Cardiff cries foul over Palace loss
CARDIFF City has asked the Premier League to annul a 0-3 loss to Crystal Palace on April 5 over allegations of cheating. Cardiff’s lawyers claim in a five-page letter that Palace’s sporting director Iain Moody tried to obtain information about the Welsh club’s starting line-up before the game.
Moody joined Palace after being sacked as Cardiff’s head of recruitment in October. Cardiff said that Moody succeeded in discovering the team line-up for the April 5 game, thereby breaching league rules, BBC reported.
Palace looks set to avoid relegation after a 3-2 win at Everton on Wednesday gave it to 40 points. Cardiff is three points from safety with only four games of the season remaining.
Meanwhile, the Premier League trophy could be out of reach for Manchester City after a 2-2 home draw with last-placed Sunderland.
