CSL surges past EPL in spending
THE Chinese Super League has splashed out an eye-watering 258.9 million euros (US$$290 million) in the winter transfer window so far, surging past the big-spending English Premier League for the first time.
Here are the top five deals:
February 5: Jiangsu Suning snare Brazilian midfielder Alex Teixeira for 50 million euros.
February 3: Colombian international Jackson Martinez signs with Asian champion Guangzhou Evergrande from Atletico Madrid for 42 million euros.
January 27: Chelsea sell Brazilian midfielder Ramires to Suning for 28 million euros.
January 21: Evergrande sell its Brazilian top scorer Elkeson to Chinese rival Shanghai SIPG for 18.5 million euros.
January 26: Roma forward Gervinho signs with Hebei Fortune for a reported 18 million euros.
