Liang Trumped at worlds as Ding awaits Judd

CHINA’S Liang Wenbo let slip a 7-3 lead as he was knocked out of the world championship in a 8-10 first-round defeat by Judd Trump on Thursday.

Liang won the day’s first frame to go four in front at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, northern England, against 2011 finalist Trump. But from then on Trump, who reached the semifinals last year, won seven of the next eight frames to set up a second-round match against another Chinese cueman in Ding Junhui. For Trump victory was revenge for a 4-6 defeat by fellow left-hander Liang at the UK Championship in December where the Englishman squandered a 4-1 lead in a loss he later labelled “embarrassing”.
