Ding takes on Robertson in final
HOME favorite Ding Junhui was in imperious form last night as he brushed aside England’s Mike Dunn 6-0 to reach the final of the China Open in Beijing.
Having played some tough matches during the week, the China No. 1 finally got his game going against Dunn, who had conquered world No. 2 and fellow Briton Mark Selby in the quarterfinals.
Ding set up a mouth-watering clash with defending champion Neil Robertson, who made the final by beating Ali Carter 6-2 in the first semifinal.
Runs of 69, 79 and 70 saw the Australian seize a 4-0 lead and it looked as though it would be a five-frame advantage when he made 59 at the start of the next but Carter managed to grind out the frame 64-59 to cut the arrears.
The Englishman then constructed a 106 to further close the gap but Robertson took frame No. 7 with a break of 67 before seeing out the contest with a 41 clearance.
