Shanghai Trophy

THE inaugural ISU Shanghai Trophy, a skating tournament combining short track speedskating and synchronized skating, will be held at Shanghai Oriental Sports Center on March 4-6.

It’s the first time that the ISU (International Skating Union) has called a tournament after a city’s name. It will also be the first time that both Winter Olympic and non-Winter Olympic competitions will be held at the same event. According to the organizers, the world’s top six ranked group skating teams — involving 136 skaters — have applied to participate in the tournament. The short track speedskating competitions will feature 51 skaters from 16 countries including China, Canada, Russia, and the US. Ticket prices range from 50 yuan (US$7.6) to 380 yuan. Dial ticket selling hotline 21-64265678 for more information.
