Lu Wenhu wins first GPKS race in Shanghai
THE first race of the 2017 “Future Star” Grand Prix Kart Scholarship Series (GPKS) was held in the Kart World at the Shanghai International Circuit over the weekend.
Jointly backed by Federation of Automobile and Motorcycling Sports of China and J&P Event Management, the series features young kart drivers between the ages of seven and 15. Five races have been scheduled in its inaugural year — three of them to held in Shanghai.
The year-end winner will join Team CRG and compete in the X30 World Final in French city Le Mans.
Fourteen young drivers participated in Sunday's competitions. Lu Wenhu won the 12-lap Cadet-Race.
GPKS uses cars provided by Italian kart manufacturer CRG. Technical support, including professional technicians and trainers, are also provided to the young participants to help cut the cost and create a fair competition platform.
