Habs legend Moore dies
Montreal Canadiens legend Dickie Moore, a six-time Stanley Cup winner during the club’s remarkable period of dominance in the 1950s, died on Saturday. He was 84.
Moore was a key member of the Canadiens team which won five consecutive titles between 1956 and 1960, a period when he twice finished as top points-scorer for the season. “Dickie Moore was a player of great skill and even-greater heart, someone admired on the ice for his will to win and adored in the community for his commitment to good deeds,” NHL commissioner Garry Bettman said in a statement.
