China series in Shanghai

THE 8th leg of the 2016 Skoda Heros China Cycling Series was held at Shanghai International Circuit in suburban Jiading District yesterday morning.

More than 3,000 cyclists from around the country competed in six categories of competitions — Elite Group, U25, U35, Student Race, Masters and Women’s Race. The competitions were followed by the Shimano Biker’s Festival, during which locals and amateur cyclists were invited to experience cycling along the 5.4-kilometer route at the circuit. The youngest participant was aged just one. The festival also saw professional cyclist Ji Cheng demonstrate cycling skills and share his stories with the crowd. The 29-year-old Harbin native was China’s first cyclist ever to compete in the three major events of Tour de France, Tour of Spain and Tour of Italy. The last leg of the 2016 Skoda Heros China Cycling Series will be a Granfondo race to be held at the Yellow Mountain in Anhui Province on October 22-23.
