SHSID students clinch Junior NBA 2016 Invitational Tournament title

SHANGHAI High School International Division (SHSID) was the deserved champion of the Junior NBA 2016 Invitational Tournament.

The tournament, which kicked off in Shanghai last month, featured over 100 under-14 players from local schools and clubs. They formed eight teams which were divided into eastern and western divisions who played in the early rounds and then play-offs. Shanghai High School International Division defeated Team Riptide 26-23 in the final on December 3. Other participants included students from Shanghai United International School, Lycee Francais de Shanghai, NBA Yao Ming Basketball Club, etc.

Interactive activities had been arranged at courtsides during the tournament to get spectators and parents involved in basketball-themed games and skill trainings.

Junior NBA is NBA’s youth basketball development project, involving over 12.2 million children from 35 countries and regions in the 2015-16 season. In China, the project was jointly promoted by NBA China, and the education administration.
