Beasley rejoins Heat after stint with Sharks

MICHAEL Beasley rejoined the Miami Heat on Thursday, signing a 10-day contract after completing a season for the Chinese Basketball Association’s Shanghai Sharks earlier this month.

Beasley, who was taken by Miami with the second pick of the 2008 NBA Draft, played two seasons with the Heat before being traded to Minnesota and rejoined the team last season, averaging 7.9 points and 3.1 rebounds over 55 games to help the Heat reach the NBA finals, losing there to San Antonio.

The 26-year-old forward’s latest arrival in Miami comes five days after the Heat announced that All-Star forward Chris Bosh would miss the rest of the NBA season with blood clots in his lungs.

Beasley averaged 27.1 points, 10.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.92 steals in 37 games with the Yao Ming-owned Sharks while shooting 51.3 percent from the floor. Shanghai went 17-21, missing the CBA playoffs.

Beasley was the Most Valuable Player at the 2015 Chinese league’s All-Star Game, coming off the bench to score a CBA All-Star Game-record 59 points.
