Freeland misses no-hitter
COLORADO rookie Kyle Freeland came agonizingly close to a no-hitter on Sunday, but the bid was broken up in the ninth inning of the Rockies’ 10-0 rout of the Chicago White Sox. Freeland held the White Sox hitless for 8 1/3 innings before Melky Cabrera lined a single to left field that spelled the end of Freeland’s day. He threw 126 pitches, 80 for strikes, and departed to a long standing ovation despite failing to become the first Rockies pitcher to throw a no-hitter a batter-friendly Coors Field.
