WWE Live returns to Shanghai in September
WORLD Wrestling Entertainment will return to China for the WWE Live 2016 China at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai on September 10, organizers announced yesterday.
WWE had its first non-commercial live show in Shanghai at the same venue during the 2010 World Expo. WWE stars scheduled to appear this year include current WWE world heavyweight champion Roman Reigns, current WWE women’s champion Charlotte and other athletes like John Cena, Seth Rollins and Sasha Banks. Meanwhile, WWE has signed Chinese wrestler Wang Bin to a developmental contract, offering him the opportunity to train and become the first-ever Chinese athlete in WWE history. The 22-year-old Anhui Province native used to be a gym coach in Shanghai. He spent the last 3-1/2 years training at Inoki Genome Federation in Japan, founded by WWE Hall of Famer Antonio Inoki. Tickets for WWE Live 2016 China go on sale tomorrow with prices ranging from 180 yuan (US$27) to 2,080 yuan. Fans can log on to www.gewara.com or www.wesai.com, or dial 10101068 for purchases.
