Training camp planned for marathon runners

A TRAINING camp is being organized for local runners to prepare them for the Shanghai International Marathon in November.

The 2017 Running Academy Marathon Training Camp will be launched in July and last for four months. Taiwan-based runner and coach Hsu Kuofeng and Olympic coach Dr. Nicolas Romanov from the US will train the participants.

“Running is not only about training, but education,” said Hsu. “Runners should also learn about running culture and techniques to improve themselves. The goal of the camp is to help runners create their personal best records.”

Hsu was talking to the media during the release of his new book at the Runner Camp flagship store in Xintiandi on Monday. His book “You Can Run Faster” teaches runners how to make better use of data and seek improvements in running.

“Running is a booming sport in China, but one of the major problems is lack of skills,” said Romanov, who is the developer of Pose Method, a training method that emphasizes on appropriate running pose. “Pose Method is a tool to help runners avoid injuries.”

The training camp will be organized by Beijing-based Running Academy which specializes in training running coaches. Interested participants can follow them on its Wechat account “paobuxueyuan” to get more information.
