Felix out of Doha meet with minor ankle injury
ORGANIZERS say Olympic 200-meter champion Allyson Felix has pulled out of the Diamond League meet in Doha next week because of a “minor” ankle injury she picked up in training.
Felix was to open her season by running in the 100 meters in Qatar on May 6. In a statement released by organizers, Felix says “my coach and I feel that it is best to be fully healthy before opening up”. Felix is also scheduled to run the 400 meters at the Prefontaine Classic in Oregon at the end of May, part of her preparations before attempting a 200-400 double at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in August. At the Prefontaine Classic, Felix is set to go up against Olympic 400-meter champion Sanya Richards-Ross on May 27-28.
