Extreme marathon

CHINA’S extreme marathon runner Chen Penbin completed the fourth leg of the “2016 Challenge 100” 100-kilometer run in Shanghai yesterday in 9 hours, 36 minutes and 28 seconds. Chen competed in three cities — Chongqing, Shenzhen, and Xiamen — before running in Chedun Town in Shanghai’s Songjiang District yesterday. Covering the 100km with Chen are 300 10-member running teams. Each team member runs 10km and completes the 100km route like a relay. After the fifth series stop in Beijing, the fastest two teams from each cities will compete in the capital again on June 26. The winning team will join Chen in Rio for a 50km beach run which will be held in the Brazilian city at the same time as the Olympic Games.
