Packers get crack at Seahawks

EVENTUALLY, the paths of Green Bay and Seattle were going to cross again.

After they opened the 2014 NFL season in early September, it seemed inevitable that Aaron Rodgers would get a second chance to throw at Richard Sherman‚ if he wanted to. That Russell Wilson would have to avoid Clay Matthews trying to chase him down. And that the Packers would get another opportunity to topple Seattle.

The Seahawks and Packers were the two best teams in the conference in the second half of the regular season. So it’s only fitting they meet for a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.

“It’s just the way it should be. It should be just like that right now,” Seattle coach Pete Carroll said.

Meanwhile, step by step, Andrew Luck has climbed into the upper echelon of NFL quarterbacks. In each of his three seasons, he and the Indianapolis Colts got one game closer to the Super Bowl. Now he can reach that destination if he beats Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the AFC championship game.

He’s pumped up for the game against the Patriots. “I want to beat the best,” Luck said. “There’s a competitive spirit in all of this: ‘Hey, the harder it is, the better.’”

New England coach Bill Belichick said: “He (Luck) was pretty good when he came in and he’s even better now. He’s got a lot of strengths.”
