Sunday's Shanghai Int'l Marathon will enjoy pleasant weather
PLEASANT weather had been forecasted for the 2016 Shanghai International Marathon which will flag off at the Bund on Sunday morning.
Staff training had been upgraded this year to assure safety of the 38,000 runners.
During last year’s event, a 26-year-old competitor suffered a heart arrest when racing along Longhua Road E in Xuhui District.
He was immediately helped by volunteers and medical staff on standby, and received help on site from a group of doctors, some of whom happened to be cardiac specialists.
The help was timely and he was saved.
To provide more rapid response in such incidents this year, over 30 running pacers have received emergency trainings including how to handle heart scares.
After days of wet condition, Sunday is forecasted to be mostly cloudy with a highest temperature of 18 degrees Celsius. But runners are still suggested to keep themselves warm at the start of the race as temperature will be as low as 14 degrees in the morning.
