Ba undergoing physiotherapy, to leave hospital on Thursday
Shanghai Greenland Shenhua’s Demba Ba will leave hospital on Thursday – six days after he underwent surgery for his broken left leg.
The club said the Senegal striker has been upbeat since his surgery, which lasted for over three hours on Friday. He was undergoing physiotherapy and has been walking with the help of crutches.
Xia Jun, an orthopedics expert at Huashan Hospital who assisted in Ba’s surgery, said the wound has been healing quickly and he had no fever as well.
Xia said Ba has been taking knee-joint training in bed, and was able to bend his knee without feeling pain. The plasters will be removed on Thursday.
Ba will leave Putuo District People’s Hospital on Thursday and spend some time in Shanghai before leaving for Qatar for further recovery.
The French surgeon Olivier Bringer who operated on Ba had said earlier that the striker would be able to play football again in about three months’time, though he would need more time before he is competitive again.
Ba is the top scorer in the Chinese Super League this season with 14 goals before breaking his left following a tackle by Shanghai SIPG captain Sun Xiang during their derby match on July 17.
