Execution set for girlfriend killer

A MAN who killed his girlfriend and her parents after he lost all the money he'd been given to buy an apartment has been sentenced to death by Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court.

He was also ordered to pay nearly 700,000 yuan (US$102,489) in compensation to the victims' relatives.

On March 22, Wu Jielin, a 29-year-old local native, killed his girlfriend and her father because they urged him to buy an apartment before marriage. The victims didn't know Wu had lost the 600,000 yuan his parents gave him in the stock market. A few days later he killed the mother of his girlfriend because he could no longer hide their deaths.
