AT least three people have been killed and ten others injured in a powerful explosion that occurred on Kohat Road near a police station in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar, police said this morning.

The state of emergency has been declared in the local hospitals.

The police and relief workers before long arrived on the blast site and kick-started the relief action. According to police sources, the ambulances of Edhi have arrived on the blast site. The injured and bodies are being shifted to the hospital.

The nature of the blast could not as yet be ascertained. Bomb disposal Squad have arrived on the spot. Police have cordoned off the blast site.

According to local TV Geo News, the police have confirmed that blast was a suicide attack, as a car was used in the blast.
