TOP-RANKED Lee Chong Wei grabbed the title in his first tournament back from a two-month injury layoff by winning the men's singles final at the Hong Kong Open yesterday.

"I am very satisfied with the result," Malaysia's Lee said, adding, "I just came back from injury, so I am very glad to win."

Lee trailed 4-9 in the third game but broke out from him stupor to outlast Danish veteran Peter Gade 21-13, 13-21, 21-16.

"It was only a few points," said Gade, referring to the start of the third game. "I'm leading 3-0 and he's so lucky on the next three points. It's so important, that he gets his confidence back.

"I played well in the second half of the game, but it was too late, the gap was too big," he added.

However, the Dane was happy with the silver medal.

"I showed that even at my age (he will turn 33 next month), I can still fight against these guys," he said, denying any early plans for retirement.

"I have to keep on going and improve maybe just a few percent, then I will have a chance of winning some of the big ones.

"When I look at my game, when I look into myself mentally, I don't feel that I am too tired and there's nothing left. I feel that I am still hungry for victories," he said.

The women's singles crown went to world No. 1 Wang Yihan, who defeated Jiang Yanjiao 21-13, 21-15 in an all-China encounter.

Wang grabbed her fifth Super Series title of the season to equal the record set by compatriot Xie Xingfang.

"I just could not catch up with her on court," Jiang conceded. "I had no chance. She was too fast."

The men's doubles title was taken by Jung Jae-sung and Lee Yong-dae of South Korea.

The third-seeded pair lost the first game to Lars Paaske and Jonas Rasmussen, the Danish seventh seeds, and trailed by five points in the second game but rallied to triumph 13-21, 21-15, 21-8.

China's Olympic champions Du Jing and Yu Yang were upset by compatriots Ma Jin and Wang Xiaoli in the women's doubles final, losing 21-16, 19-21, 12-21 while Indonesia's Nova Widianto and Liliyana Natsir, the Olympic runners-up in the mixed doubles, were toppled by Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Kostiuczyk of Poland 20-22, 16-21.
