AN elderly Chinese woman has died at Tribhuwan International Airport in Nepali capital Kathmandu after she collapsed yesterday afternoon.

The 81 year-old Chinese woman collapsed in a hall of the terminal building in the airport, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shanti Basnet.

She was scheduled to fly to New Delhi on a Jet Light Air flight. The woman, a chronic heart patient, was declared dead immediately after she collapsed.

She was on a weeklong visit to Kathmandu along with her daughters.

The police have sent her body to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for autopsy.

According to the police, they will hand over the body to the Chinese Embassy after necessary investigation.
