President Hu leaves Beijing for state visits, APEC summit

CHINESE President Hu Jintao left Beijing today to pay state visits to Malaysia and Singapore and attend an Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

Hu would visit Malaysia and Singapore from November 10 to 13 at the invitations of Malaysian Supreme Head of State Mizan Zainal Abidin and Singaporean President S. R. Natha respectively.

At the invitation of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Hu would attend the 17th APEC economic leaders meeting set for November 14 and 15 in Singapore.

During the summit, Hu will explain China's opinions on the battle against the international financial crisis and the global economic recovery, China's position on challenges of climate change, food and energy safety and China's view on APEC's future development, Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei said last week.

Hu's entourage includes his wife Liu Yongqing; Ling Jihua, member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of General Office of CPC Central Committee; Wang Huning, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and director of Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee; State Councilor Dai Bingguo; Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi; Minister of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Zhang Ping; Commerce Minister Chen Deming;He Yafei; Vice Commerce Minister Yi Xiaozhun; Director of the President's Office Chen Shiju; Assistant Foreign Minister Hu Zhengyue.
