Sex video judge jailed for corruption

A JUDGE in east China's Zhejiang Province has been jailed for 9 1/2 years for corruption discovered during an investigation into a sex video scandal.

Guo Jian, a former deputy presiding judge of Wucheng District People's Court in Jinhua City, was convicted of embezzling 176,000 yuan (US$25,781) between January 1999 to September 2007.

In January 2008, he took 30,000 yuan in bribes from plaintiffs involved in civil cases, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.

His corruption was uncovered after Guo was filmed with his mistress by her suspicious husband. The husband handed over the sex video to supervisory authorities after negotiations with the judge broke down, according to previous media reports.
