A DANISH man has been permanently barred from entering China for assaulting a policeman at the Shenzhen border after drinking eight bottles of beer and 10 cocktails and wines, a Guangzhou-based newspaper reported today.

The 2-meter-tall man, employed by the Shenzhen branch of a Hong Kong company, refused to have his baggage checked while entering Huanggang border customs hall, according to Southern Metropolis Daily.

A police officer who investigated the case said the Dane punched him when he asked him to step into the office for further inquiries about 9pm on Saturday, the report said.

The police officer was slightly injured and is still in hospital. The Dane has his residential visa in China cancelled.
