FINE art works by artists in the People's Liberation Army are being put on show to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, which falls on October 1.

An exhibition of nearly 300 fine art works was opened yesterday, jointly organized by the PLA General Political Department, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Chinese Artists Association.

The exhibition is being held at the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution in west Beijing.

The works cover a wide range of topics from the military forces to social lives, reflecting the PLA's development in the past six decades. Exhibits include traditional Chinese paintings, oil paintings, sculptures and watercolor paintings.

Xu Caihou, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, attended the opening ceremony and visited the exhibition.

China will hold a grand gathering at the Tian'anmen Square on October 1 to commemorate the 60th anniversary, including a military parade and mass pageant.
