NEWSPAPER EDITION
A FORMER senior political adviser in central China was executed yesterday afternoon after being found guilty on seven charges including raping 24 teenagers.
Wu Tianxi, former vice chairman of People's Political Consultative Conference of Zhenping County, Henan Province, was a gang leader and organized a series of crimes since 1992, including blackmailing, street fights, illegal land grants, fund raising and forcing deals.
Between 2005 and the beginning of 2007, Wu raped 24 female students. Six of the girls were under 14.
The Intermediate People's Court of Henan's Nanyang City sentenced Wu to death in 2007. The Supreme People's Court issued final approval of the sentence a few days ago.
