Official gets 10 years for raping girl

A TAX official was sentenced to 10 years' prison for raping a 13-year old girl by a court in Yibin City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, yesterday.

In December Lu Yumin, a tax official in Yibin County, Yibin City, forced himself on the girl, who was then 13, in a hotel, according to the Cuiping District People's Court in the city.

Lu told a businesswoman named Mo Qiong he wanted to have sex with a virgin last October. Mo Qiong asked her niece Mo Siting to find one. Mo Siting sent the girl to the hotel. Lu paid Mo Qiong 6,000 yuan (US$880) before committing the crime.

Mo Qiong was sentence to nine years' jail while Mo Siting received six years because she was under 18 when she committed the crime.
