Man jailed for stabbing landlord

AN unemployed man who stabbed his landlord when he was unable to pay the rent was sentenced to six months in jail yesterday by Changning District People's Court.

Liu Qiang rented the three-room apartment for 4,500 yuan (US$659) a month in Changning District from April last year. He was fired in October and was unable to pay the rent. His landlord, surnamed Wu, insisted on him paying and when she visited on January 16 he stabbed her. Wu was slightly injured.
