SHANGHAI has issued an urgent notice to check work safety at all construction projects in the city.

The notice came after Yu Zhengsheng, Shanghai Party chief, and Mayor Han Zheng demanded a thorough investigation into the building collapse.

The two officials said anyone found responsible for the accident will be severely punished.
