CHINESE basketball player Yao Ming left for the United States yesterday to have his left foot re-examined after staying in China for almost a month after his injury recurred in May.
In the US, Yao will receive X-rays and treatment to ensure he will be able to start foot strengthening exercises, Laodong Daily reported today.
Yao suffered a fracture in his left foot in the US last year and underwent surgery. However, his injury recurred early in May during the NBA playoffs but it was less severe. He later returned to China.
Yao has been busy in the past month recording for a film, The Magic Aster, promoting the 2010 Expo and attending a fashion show.
He will return to China with his former teammate Mutombo to play charity matches this summer and at the end of July will come back with some of his Rockets teammates including Brooks and Landry.
Though Yao won't be able to play in the Asian Basketball Championships because of his injury, he is confident in the Chinese Men's Basketball Team.
Yi Jianlian, Wang Zhizhi and Sun Yue will play in the championships, and many young players have joined the Chinese team. Yao expressed his support for them and hoped the young team would improve itself.
The championships will begin on August 6 in Tianjing, when China will play Qatar, Kazakhstan and India in its group stage.
