THE UN chief said a second nuclear test by North Korea would represent "a clear violation" of a United Nations Security Council resolution, as the council called an emergency session yesterday to discuss the matter.

The 15-nation Security Council was to hold its emergency session on the matter yesterday at UN headquarters in New York.

"I sincerely hope that the Security Council will take necessary corresponding measures," UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in Copenhagen.
