Young couple admit kidnapping drivers

A COUPLE admitted being part of a gang which kidnapped drivers of expensive cars when they appeared in court yesterday.

Wang Xiaowei, a 20-year-old Jiangsu Province native, and his girlfriend, Li Xueling, 21, were involved in four kidnaps and obtained 400,000 yuan (US$58,611) through theft and ransom demands, the Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate People's Court heard. It didn't announce the verdict yesterday.
