A MAN convicted of killing eight people, including a 2-year-old boy, was executed yesterday in Suizhou City of Hubei Province, Wuhan Evening News reported.
Xiong Zhenlin, 35, a junk collector, was convicted in Luoyang Township in central China on January 4.
The victims included five of his employees, a local resident named Xia Guangxiu who had come to sell waste material, a 43-year-old woman named Zhu Deqing, whom Xiong hoped to marry, and Zhu's two-year-old grandson.
He was arrested in the provincial capital Wuhan on January 11.
Xiong was sentenced to death at his initial trial on February 9. He appealed his sentence on February 12.
The Hubei Provincial Higher People's Court rejected Xiong Zhenlin's appeal on March 5 and the sentence was approved by the Supreme People's Court.
