HANGZHOU City plans to distribute another 100 million yuan (US$14.62 million) in discount tourist vouchers.

Travelers will be able to use the vouchers, which have a face value of 200 yuan, at sightseeing attractions and to help pay for theater tickets, food and entertainment from June 1 in Hangzhou, capital of neighboring Zhejiang Province, and its suburban areas, the Oriental Morning Post reported today.

The city distributed vouchers worth 150 million yuan to cities in the Yangtze Delta region after the Spring Festival holiday.

More than 11 million Chinese tourists visited the city in the first quarter, an 8.4 percent rise over the same period last year. The city plans to give out the new vouchers through Websites after a survey showed that 58 percent of the tourists who used the vouchers obtained them from Websites. Tourists can pick up the vouchers at nominated outlets in Hangzhou.

The Hangzhou Tourism Commission will publicize a new list of participating businesses on June 1. Until then tourists can use the original vouchers at 818 venues throughout the city.
