AN underground parking station is being built just a short walk from what will be the city's biggest amusement park, "Happy Valley," in Songjiang District.
Visitors will only have to walk 150 meters from the carpark to the amusement park when it opens later this year, yesterday's Xinmin Evening News reported.
The amusement park, with 127 million yuan (US$18.58 million) of government funding, is part of efforts to develop the Sheshan National Scenic Area.
The parking station, already 45 percent completed, should be finished by the time the park opens, government officials said in the report.
The 40,000-square-meter underground lot can accommodate 1,117 cars. After the underground section is completed, construction will start on an above-ground section for 222 coaches, 1,275 cars and 428 motorcycles.
