Take food home to save money

2009-4-1  |     NEWSPAPER EDITION

PEOPLE eating in five hotels in Jing'an District are to receive money off their bills if they take leftovers home in a scheme announced yesterday by the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Administration Bureau.

Catering units have to pay 60 yuan (US$8.78) at present to dispose of every 240-litre bucket of leftovers and the new move is expected to lower their costs. The hotels in the trial scheme have not been named.
