Teacher arrested after girls' complaints

POLICE in Hunan Province have arrested a primary school teacher who is alleged to have molested at least eight girls in his class.

One of the victims is said to have suffered serious gynecological damage, the Sanxiang City Express reported yesterday.

Her mother had paid little attention to her complaints of stomach pains until two fathers visited her to ask if her daughter had been molested as theirs had been.

The girl's mother was told the teacher had taken her daughter to his office several times, where she is said to have been molested and ordered not to tell anyone.

The parents of the eight schoolgirls reported Tan Xiangqun, 45, a third-grade teacher at a local primary school in Anhua County of Yiyang City in Huhan, to police.

Tan has been a teacher for more than 20 years.
