A man from Anhui Province was killed in a midnight explosion on Wednesday on Guoquan Road N. in Baoshan District. The victim was surnamed Li, 57. Witnesses heard an explosion and found Li covered in blood.

It was unclear what caused the explosion although neighbors said it may have been due to an abandoned shell from the World War II period.
