Health Bureau on bird flu alert

THE Shanghai Health Bureau has told local health facilities to stay alert after several cases of bird flu were reported in the nation within a month.

Following a request by the Ministry of Health, local health authorities are launching a 24-hour center and a daily reporting system working with the departments of agriculture and the industrial and commercial administration. Wet markets with live poultry will have special staff checking the food.
