XIN Weiming, the deputy director of Luwan District who disappeared while on a government business trip to Paris and returned to Shanghai early last month, has resigned. The date he submitted the resignation was not specified.
Xin traveled to France with a group of other officials during China's National Day public holiday in October. One morning his colleagues became suspicious when he failed to show up for breakfast and asked hotel staff to open his room. They found a note left by Xin saying he was out meeting friends, but he failed to contact the group before they returned to China. Sources close to Xin said he has never been linked to any crime, according to a report by Xinhua news agency.
Yang Xianghong, an official of Wenzhou City in Zhejiang Province who overstayed a 12-day European tour in °?September, has been dismissed from office.
