SAIC Motor Co Ltd said its Roewe 550 sedan has won five-star rating in the latest crash tests in China.
The China Automotive Technology & Research Center gave the ratings after conducting front and side crash tests on the Roewe 550 under the Chinese New Car Assessment Program, which is similar to the Euro-NCAP standard.
The 1.8-liter Roewe 550 is the second self-branded vehicle launched by SAIC.
The auto maker said more than 12,000 Roewe 550 sedans have been sold over the past five months since it began selling in the domestic market.
SAIC Motor Corp, China's biggest auto maker, plans to re-open a Longbridge car plant in Britain in the second half of the year, resuming production at a factory that closed three years ago when MG Rover collapsed. ...
