FOREST police in Beijing's Yanqing County reported rare sightings of a wolf near Badaling tourist spot and has sent wolf pictures taken by a tourist to the authorities for evaluation.
Forest police and wild animal control station want to capture the wolf out of safety concern, the Beijing News reported today.
Initial assessment by animal experts said it was a real wolf picture shot in the morning of last Friday, the report said. The wolf was not an escapee from the nearby Badaling Wild Animal Zoo because the zoo said no wolf was found missing after a count.
Wang Zhongming, director of Beijing Wild Animal Control Station, said about 20 wolves had been found in the city's outlying areas in a research made a few years ago.
