University student Fu Chengli, who killed a law professor for having love affairs with a female student, said he felt no regret at all for what he had done.
Fu told police he killed Professor Cheng Chunming as a warning to other teachers who also had immoral affairs with female students since the school authorities didn't punish them for such matter, the Prosecutorial Daily, the official newspaper for prosecutors, reported on its Website today.
Cheng is the professor of the China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing while Fu, 22, is a senior student at the university's Political Science and Public Management School.
Fu said another reason for his gruesome act was to take revenge on Cheng. The 43-year-old married man once had love affair with Fu's girlfriend surnamed Chen for a whole year. But their relationship ended before Chen met Fu and fell in love with him, the report said.
However after Fu and Chen broke up, he blamed the professor for leaving too much unhappy memories to them. So he stabbed Cheng with a kitchen knife twice in a classroom on October 28. Cheng died of excessive blood loss before reaching the emergency room.
Cheng's wife has been pregnant for five months when the case happened, the report said.
Fu used his own mobile phone to surrender after the killing and was soon arrested by police.
The newspaper said Fu didn't know Cheng at all and never talked to him. His hate for Cheng came from his girlfriend, according to the report.
Fu learned Cheng's name for the first time from his girlfriend in August 2007 when the pair were travelling in Hebei Province. There, Chen told Fu she had sex with Professor Cheng and their relationship lasted for one year.
Fu treated Chen even better after hearing this but Chen still broke up with him in July this year. Frustrated, Fu bought a kitchen knife and a fruit knife in a supermarket and chose to kill Cheng on October 28 because Cheng had lessons that day.
Fu said he always wanted to take revenge on Cheng even before the breakup with his girlfriend. "I once thought to kill Cheng's family members but felt it was unfair to them," Fu was quoted as saying. "So I decided to kill Cheng."
Teachers should not have love affairs, especially extramarital affairs with students, Fu argued. However he knew no law nor that school can punish wrongdoers. As a man in traditional beliefs, Fu insisted only married couple can have sex, the report said.
The university said Fu was a normal student in study and daily behavior showing no sign of mental illness. But the students commented Fu as a kindly and straightforward man who always attended university activities.
Fu is the only child of his family and was enrolled by the university with high scores. Born in Heilongjiang Province, he moved to Tianjin with his parents in 1997.
