Shanghai's Grand Cinema on Nanjing Road W. will re-open to the public around the Chinese New Year, which falls on January 26.

The cinema has been under renovation since the beginning of the year.

Three elevators have been installed at both sides of the cinema. The lobby and corridors are decorated with light-colored stones while the showrooms are in classic dark tones of red, blue and brown.

A roof garden and a terrace restaurant are also added where visitors can enjoy a broad view o of the People's Square.

The cinema, built in 1928, was designed by L.E. Hudec, a famous Hungarian architect who left more than 60 buildings in Shanghai with many as local landmarks, like the Park Hotel and the Moore Memorial Church.
