Internet users climb

CHINA had 290 million Internet users at the end of last month, a jump of 14.6 percent over the number at the end of June, Xinhua news agency said yesterday, citing the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

There were 253 million users in China at the end of June. More than 80 percent of the country's Internet surfers use broadband connections.
