A SUDDEN cold snap meant a chilly wake up call for Shanghai today as the temperature dipped to as low as 3 degrees Celsius in some parts of the city, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.

It will be sunny today through Friday, which will heat things up to a high of 11 degrees during the day.

Highs are forecast to climb to 18 or 19 degrees late on Friday, the bureau said.

The bureau is calling for rain on the weekend.

Residents were reminded to wear warmer clothes to avoid catching a cold.
